By Gwen Evans, Counselor and Spiritual FacilitatorEmotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a very effective and gentle healing tool. EFT is in essence, emotional acupuncture because it uses some of the same meridians, (energy points on the body) that acupuncture uses. Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that is gaining more acceptance in this country because of its effectiveness. EFT is a tool that utilizes some of these energy points for emotional healing. Often people find themselves stuck in negative emotions such as fear, anger, sadness or grief. It can be difficult to work through these emotions. Many times we are avoiding or totally ignoring the underlying feelings. At times feelings can actually get stuck in our bodies and manifest as pain, tightness, congestion or discomfort. When we experience a build up of negative emotions, we may feel as if there is a big balloon inside of us. This perceived balloon is so full of air, that it feels like we will burst. Using the EFT, or "Tapping" as it’s sometimes called, helps to release the air or emotional blockage from the balloon, painlessly a little at a time. These energy points on the body act as gateways for our energy to move and flow. When activated, these gateways open and release the emotional blockages. Most of the time people will feel an immediate release. As the body’s energy system is moved into a more balanced state of being, the mind and emotions also become balanced. By gently tapping on these meridians, while stating the problem, a new path to healing is opened. EFT can assist with healing a wide variety of emotional issues. A trained practitioner can help an individual learn to use EFT as part of their personal growth process. For additional information about EFT, go to www.emofree.com.
